Research participation notice
Who we are
The data controller is Alexey Egorenko, publishing as Suncokret Labs, Novi Sad, Serbia. Contact: [email protected].
Participation and legal basis
Participation is optional and off by default. It is separate from using the app: recording and coaching work without it. We process research data based on your consent. Your consent version and time are recorded locally on your phone.
Purpose
We use the rides you choose to send to improve cadence estimation from phone motion sensors.
What is collected
Only rides you explicitly choose to send are collected. Each bundle contains ride metadata, including phone model and phone placement; session state; recorded raw (RAW) accelerometer and gyroscope data; events and structured labels when recorded; and a manifest with the session ID, app version, consent version and time, your pseudonymous researchParticipantId, and file names, sizes and checksums.
What is not collected
The research bundle does not contain BLE reference sensor data, cadence or signal-quality estimates, microphone audio, location, BLE MAC address or device name, contacts, account data, your name or email, or free-text notes.
How data reaches us
The app itself sends nothing and has no internet access. You export a ride as one ZIP file and send it to the developer through the Android share sheet, using a messenger, email or cloud drive. Nothing is sent automatically. You choose each ride to send.
Who receives it
The research recipient is the developer only. The service you choose in the Android share sheet, such as a messenger, email provider or cloud drive, also processes the bundle.
Your participant ID
Your researchParticipantId is a random ID generated when you first opt in. It is not derived from an account, phone number or device ID. This ID does not make the data anonymous.
Retention
Every bundle is kept for 3 months from receipt. This includes imported copies, labels and analysis caches derived per session that remain linked to your ID. After that, these data are deleted. Only non-identifying aggregates, such as per-algorithm error statistics, may remain.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent in Settings as easily as you gave it. This stops future sending. It does not delete rides stored on your phone or recall bundles already sent. Those bundles are deleted on request or at the end of the retention period.
Access and erasure
To request access to or erasure of your research data, email [email protected] with the researchParticipantId shown in the app. For an erasure request, every bundle and derived per-session data linked to that ID are deleted.
Who can see that you sent it
The recipient sees who sent the bundle through the service you choose. The developer stores only the bundle, without linking your sender name, chat link or address to your researchParticipantId. The copy in the messenger or email is deleted after import and in any case within the retention period.
Relation to the general Privacy policy
This Research participation notice covers research participation only. The general Privacy policy remains valid: the app has no internet access and sends nothing on its own. Sending a ride is a separate action you take, covered by this notice. See Privacy policy.
